New Documentary Explains Honeybee Population Collapse

Bee Native, the Honeybee Conservancy, and the Natural Resources Defense Council have created a fund raiser for “Vanishing of the Bees,” a new documentary that explains the honeybee population collapse. The fund raiser will take place on Feb. 4 at RAMSCALE, located at 463 West Street, 13th floor, New York, NY, from 7pm-10pm.
“Honeybees are the modern canary in the coal mine,” says director Maryam Henein. “They have a very important message to impart to our planet. They are telling us that we are out of sync with nature and that we need to come together for the greater good of Mother Earth and be the change we want to see.”
The event will include a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, and drinks. Tickets can be purchased here.

Can you tell me how to access the main message of this film, and how accepted this explanation is among the scientific community?

The decline of bees is truly a serious problem. Without them mankind will vanish. I truly believe that this problem is man made but not because we are destroying our planet. I believe without a doubt that GM foods are the problem. Example corn that produces its’ own insecticide that kills ALL insect life, causes cancer in test animals and man is a big part of the problem. The Europen Union has rejected GM food. What is wrong with the American population where 95% of the people do not have a clue about this poison? The message in the documentary mentioned above is toally “globalist” and goes hand and glove with the likes of the global warming fraud!

I doubt that you will find peer-reviewed, reproducible research backing up the claims of the “Honeybee Connivancy” or any of the other back-to-nature groups that you meet by following the link: (http://www.thehoneybeeconservancy.org/Events.html) A little junk science usually does the trick for them. Never mind, the website has some excellent links if you are interested in bees. The donations will help the unemployed environmentalists and soothe a lost soul. If GM foods actually killed people I think the serious nature mongers would want these crops grown in third world countries to assist malaria in reducing the great numbers of people who are wildly reproducing there and threatening Mommy Earth.

Honeybees are not native to the U.S. I farm fairly close to NYC and have a plethora of wild bees… I don’t think I will be attending this “preview”… “explaining CCD”.

Perhaps you should aim before you pull the trigger on your literary pen! (or keyboard as it where) The current problems with honeybees has absolutely nothing to do with GM modified crops! While there may be evidence that fish may have some issues with run-off water from fields where GM modified crops are produced Honey bees are NOT affected by the (naturally occurring insecticide by the way) insecticide in Corn (Bacillus thuringiensis) You should really take the time to read this: http://extoxnet.orst.edu/pips/bacillus.htm. I assure you that the other chemical pesticides the farmers use on their crops are much more toxic to Honey Bees than BT is. I suspect that the European’s issues with GM modified crops has more to do with their economic protectionist attitudes towards our products than the science behind GM crops. Besides… Their Europeans…what else can you say? No doubt our honey bee population is struggling. You might consider contacting your duly elected federal representatives and ask them why the Federal Government has been so negligent in the inspections of products entering our country. After all the Asian trachea mite which has had a huge detrimental affect on our native honey bee populations did not just fly here on it’s own from Asia. Neither did the Emerald Ash Borer. Or the Toys from China with the Lead paint on them or the jewelry from china dipped in the heavy metal cadmium! And this list could go on for days! This is consciences of not producing the products we consume here in the United States. The minute we start importing all this junk we open the flood gates to all sorts of nasty bugs and diseases and toxic products. The task of preventing those things from getting here is now so large that it is impossible to prevent this type of stuff from happening. What you are witnessing is just the beginning… it will surely get a whole lot worse before it gets better! For 200 years our continent’s isolation from the rest of the world has protected us. Now with globalization our safety has diminished!

Gm foods may play some roll in the ccd problem, but lets not forget the insecticides that are used, the stress on the bee’s from moving them all over the country. I have been told that Germany has banned all chemical fertilizers and insecticides, and no longer has ccd symptoms, its something to think about. The companies that sell these insecticides and other chemicals certainly are not going to ever report any negative articles on those products, they are out to make money, not save bee’s. Hobbyists who have bee’s and do not move them are rarely bothered with ccd.

Its amazing how many “educated” people take one small piece of the puzzle and run around saying “I’m the only one who gets it”.Theres a lot of research still going on, wait till the results are in. Stop quoting half-truths from self-serving “scientist’.
