Gowan, Nichino America End Distribution Agreement For Moncut And Moncoat MZ Fungicides
May 19, 2014 Flutolanil (Moncut 70DF fungicide and Moncoat MZ fungicide) has been a part of Gowan Company’s portfolio since 2005. The active ingredient has been marketed in several key crops under many different formulations, and in recent years it has attained a solid market position in potatoes.
Flutolanil is part of the SDHI chemistry group, which is a group of fungicides that have excellent activity on Rhizoctonia. Recently, this class of chemistry has seen several new compounds launch in the potato market with others expected in the near future. With the increased competition, an evaluation was conducted to determine whether Gowan could remain competitive under a supplier agreement with Nichino America who is the basic manufacturer for the compound.
After this evaluation, it was determined that Nichino America will not renew the distribution agreement with Gowan and instead will market the Flutolanil brands of Moncut and Moncoat MZ to distribution customers through their own organization.

Gowan continues to be a valuable marketing partner for Nichino America and other mutual supply agreements will not be impacted by this transition.
Nichino America will acquire marketing and distribution rights of Moncut and Moncoat MZ on July 1, 2014. Over the next several weeks, Gowan and Nichino America will work to ensure a smooth transition.
