The challenges and opportunities facing today’s produce growers were the centerpiece of discussion during the recently held Fruit & Vegetable Grower CONNECT 2025 in Isle of Palms, SC. Among the influential growers on hand was Toby Basore, President of TKM Bengard Farms based in Palm Beach Gardens FL.

Editors from American Fruit Grower, Western Fruit Grower, and American Vegetable Grower were able to capture candid conversations with several growers at the industry event.

Basore reflects on 2025 as a year full of opportunity. He shares optimism about a strong crop and his focus on staying connected with customers while planning for the next season. Innovation is driving efficiency on his farm. Using precision robotics sprayers from Ecorobotix and Verdant Technologies, Basore is reducing labor and cutting pesticide and fungicide use by as much as 70% to 80%. Combining forward planning with smart technology is the key to making every season more productive and profitable.
