Late Blight Update
Incidence of late blight has been reported in several areas in the North and Northeast. The disease was confirmed earlier this week on potato and tomato from a home garden in Oneida County in New York. Last week it was confirmed in a commercial tomato planting in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. (For more information and to report late blight, go to http://blogs.cornell.edu/lateblight/.)
In North Dakota with conditions favorable for the disease, late blight on potatoes has been reported in Emmons, Kidder, and Walsh counties, according to the North Dakota State University (NDSU) Potato Blightline. The disease also has been found in Marshall County Minnesota, Yuma County Colorado, near Carman Manitoba, and near Peace and Edmonton Alberta.
