Three Growers Appointed To Michigan Apple Committee

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder recently announced the appointment of Michael Dietrich, of Conklin, MI; and the reappointment of Gary Bartley, of Dowagiac, MI; and Damon Glei, of Hillsdale, MI, to the Michigan Apple Committee.

The seven-member committee develops and implements marketing efforts for Michigan’s apple industry.

“The apple market and food and agricultural industry are crucial parts of Michigan’s economy,” said Snyder. “I appreciate these appointees’ willingness to serve in these roles.”

Dietrich is a partner with Leo Dietrich & Sons LLC. He serves as chairman of the Ottawa County Farm Bureau Candidate Evaluation Committee. Dietrich will represent the new District 3 and will replace Kevin Winkel.

Bartley is the co-owner of Bartley Farms. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Valparaiso University. He will continue to represent District 1.

Glei is a manager of Glei’s Inc. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University. He will represent the new District 2.

Members serve three-year terms expiring April 1, 2017. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
