Who Will Win the Title of Miss Florida Citrus in 2023?

Payton Barrington, Miss Florida Citrus 2022, and Jada Carter, Miss Winter Haven 2022, soak up the limelight at last year’s pageant. Who will be crowned Miss Florida Citrus 2023?
Next month, a long-running Florida citrus tradition (nearly 100 years old now) will embark on its next chapter. A new Miss Florida Citrus and Miss Winter Haven will be crowned during a Miss America preliminary pageant held at Polk State College’s Fine Arts Theatre in Winter Haven, FL, on Feb. 25, 2023.
Participants from throughout the state will compete for the titles, along with a chance to earn more than $2,000 in scholarship money and the chance to compete for and become Miss America.
Candidates compete in Personal Interviews, Social Impact Initiative, Talent and Red Carpet Attire, says Brenda Eubanks Burnette, Executive Director of the Florida Citrus Hall of Fame and former Florida Citrus Queen. The winner will go on to the Miss Florida competition in June.
Miss Florida Citrus and Miss Winter Haven will receive a $1,000 and $500 scholarship respectively, with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place candidates receiving $250, $150 and $100, along with other gifts.
Dating back to 1924, the Florida citrus growers sponsored what was then the Florida Citrus Queen program, which was devoted to the promotion of the Florida citrus industry. Winners were chosen to serve as a goodwill ambassador throughout the state, the nation, and the world. In 1983, the program changed its name to Miss Florida Citrus, with the selection process shifting from that of a more traditional beauty pageant to days of interviews, videotaping, and media/communications judging by a panel of industry leaders.
