Rare Bug Found At Miami Airport

The Miami Herald reported the bug, Uttaris pallidipennis Stal, a species of the Hemiptera order, was discovered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Aug. 20 at Miami International Airport. The bug was found in a shipment of cut flowers from South Africa.

Entomologist  don’t yet know what if any threat this pest might cause to crops and other plants in the state.
