Allrecipe’s recent national survey of home cooks was the impetus for the farmers market tour. The survey found that farmers markets are playing a more important role in Americans’ food shopping routines. More than half the 1,400 respondents plan to shop more frequently at farmers markets this year.

“Allrecipes will participate this summer at several farmers markets to meet cooks, hear what they’re cooking, and help them discover new dish ideas,” says Esmee Williams, vice president, brand marketing, allrecipes.com.

Allrecipes.com will be at the following farmers markets this summer:

  • Mar Vista Farmers Market, Los Angeles, Sunday, Aug. 2
  • Graham Avenue Farmers Market, Brooklyn, NY, Saturday, Aug. 8
  • Eastern Market, Washington, D.C., Saturday, Aug. 15
  • Kirkland Wednesday Market, Seattle, Wednesday, Aug. 19

According to Allrecipe’s survey, more than 86% of respondents claim food bought at farmers markets tastes better, and 41% cite the environmental benefits of buying food grown closer to home as a top priority.
