PBH is actively seeking feedback from the fruit and vegetable industry and will continue to do so through October 2009. Additional webinars explaining the proposed promotion board and the referendum process will be conducted on May 15, June 10, July 8, Aug. 13, and Sept. 2. All webinars will begin at 2:00 pm EST. For more information, contact PBH Executive Assistant Sharese Alston at [email protected] to register for one of the Webinars.

The proposed objective of a National Fruit and Vegetable Research and Promotion Board is to increase U.S. consumption of all forms of fruits and vegetables for better health through implementation of a comprehensive health marketing, communications, and education effort. The board is proposed to be funded by a total of $30 million collected from first handlers. This amount would be collected via a 0.046% assessment (less than 1/20 of one percent) on the free-on-board (FOB) market value of all first handlers and importers of both fresh and processed fruits and vegetables.

For further details, visit the proposed promotion board area of the PBH website at www.fvcampaign.org. PBH is available to speak to groups of first handlers and importers to present the information in more detail and to seek feedback through October 2009.
