Washington Association Of Wine Grape Growers Elects Board Members

Todd Newhouse of Upland Vineyards in Outlook, WA, Lynne Chamberlain of Spofford Station Vineyards in Walla Walla, WA, and Mike Means of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates in Paterson, WA, were elected to the 2014 Board of Directors for the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers (WAWGG).

The voting membership of the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers which includes both wineries and grape growers, elected the three to their nine-member board, during the Annual Meeting and Convention in February at the Three Rivers Convention Center and Toyota Center in Kennewick, WA. Each elected board member will serve a three-year term.

Mike Means, a previous board member of WAWGG, has been in the wine industry since 1987 when he started with Ste. Michelle. Since 2011, has been Director of Vineyard Operations where he oversees all internal vineyards. Previously, Mike was Vineyard Manager for Canoe Ridge Vineyard, Sagelands Winery and for Goose Ridge vineyard. He serves on numerous industry committees and boards and is the chairman of Northwest Foundation Block Advisory Group and the Wine Advisory Committee. He was one of the original board members of the Washington Wine Industry Foundation and served three previous terms on the WAWGG board.

Other Board members include: Patrick Rawn of Two Mountain Winery, Zillah, WA; Ken Lewis of Trail View Farm, Prosser, WA; Leif Olsen of Olsen Vineyards, Prosser, WA; Julia Kock of Klipsun Vineyards, Roosevelt, WA; Scott Williams of Kiona Vineyards, Benton City, WA; and Jason Schlagel of Milbrandt Vineyards/Wahluke Wine Company, Mattawa, WA.

Officers for 2014 will be Todd Newhouse as chairman, Patrick Rawn as vice chairman and Ken Lewis as secretary/treasurer.
