Court papers show that Hurtado-Garcia told investigators he was laid off this past December and that killing Rasch was the “only solution to his problem.” He is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 22.

In addition to apples, Rasch grew peaches, plums, pears, and apricots on his farm. He is survived by his wife Barbara and two daughters, Sarah Rasch and Rowan Braybrook.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. There will also be a one-hour window prior to the 11 a.m. Wednesday mass and funeral at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Wright Township.
