Call For Almond Board Of California Candidates

There’s still time to throw your hat in the ring if you’re interested in joining the Almond Board of California’s Board of Directors. Five open positions remain, including two independent handler-member positions and two independent handler-alternate positions. One cooperative grower-member nominee and alternate nominee will be selected through their respective cooperative associations as well. Handlers must declare their candidacy in writing to the Almond Board no later than Jan. 20 to be placed on the ballot.

Two independent grower-member positions and two independent grower-alternate positions are also available. Candidates must be growers and must submit a petition signed by at least 15 independent almond growers (verified by the Almond Board) to be considered for the position. The petition must state the position for which the candidate is nominated and must be filed with the Almond Board of California by Jan. 20, at 1150 Ninth St., Suite 1500, Modesto, CA 95354.

The Almond Board of California is the agency established to administer the Federal Marketing Order for almonds. The USDA, which oversees Federal Marketing Orders, would like to increase the diversity of the Almond Board and is encouraging women, minorities and people with disabilities who are eligible to consider running for a position.
