Interest in hydroponics seems to be growing at the back-yard level and on larger scale farming operations. Growers interested in learning more about hydroponics in greenhouse production can attend one of UF/IFAS’s virtual field days on its website at http://vfd.ifas.ufl.edu. The tour carries the grower step-by-step through the setup of the hydroponic greenhouse and provides in-season tips on planting, pest control, and harvesting. These tips are provided via video clips, so the viewer can see firsthand the techniques being utilized.

The greenhouse setup videos show comparisons of hydroponic styles, including soilless systems and containers, nutrient film technique, floating systems, and vertical towers.

The in-season videos carry the growers from planting through harvest and include tips on how to market a hydroponically grown crop. Growers can also see a 360° view of a pre-plant hydroponic greenhouse, along with a view at mid-crop on the field tour website.
