The North Carolina Cooperative Extension service will host the first-ever Zucchini 500 on June 25. Modeled after the Pinewood Derby, kids will create cars out of vegetables and race them for prizes.
Cars will race on a 16-foot-long track in two categories, for ages 9 and younger and 10 and up. Prize categories will include Fastest; Overall Creative; Most Nutritious (based on the number of fresh produce parts); School Spirit Theme; and NASCAR (cars designed to look like a favorite driver’s car).
