Tomato Trellising Tips

High tunnels are known to help growers extend the season along with protecting high value crops, improve quality, and reduce weed and pest pressure. As a follow up to Penn State Extension’s High Tunnel School, a series of twilight meetings will provide attendees an opportunity to talk with growers and see good practices in action. At each twilight meeting, the grower will discuss their experiences with high tunnels and a visiting speaker will share knowledge on a special topic.

This twilight meeting will be held June 5 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Centre County, 176 Zuck Rd., Spring Mills, PA. The event will be hosted by Leslie Zuck, Common Ground Organic Farm.

Zuck, the owner of Common Ground Organic Farm, has been producing certified organic transplants and produce for more than 25 years. She rotates transplant production with in-ground vegetables in a 20-by-60-foot hoophouse. Attendees will learn about trellising cucumbers and tomatoes, as well as transplant production techniques.
