Top 100 Tomato Grower Receives Distinguished Service Award
One of American Vegetable Grower’s Top 100 Growers, DiMare Company, has received the Distinguished Service Award from the Florida Fruit and Vegetable Association (FFVA). Tony DiMare, vice president of DiMare Company was presented with the award at the organization’s 68th annual convention held in Palm Beach, FL. The seasoned veteran of the tomato industry has worked in his family’s company since the 1980s, now overseeing it’s operations in three locations from Florida to South Carolina.
In addition to his company, DiMare’s has dedicated his time to the betterment of the industry in various ways, from serving on the FFVA’s board of directors to testifying before Congress on industry issues. FFVA Chairman Drew Duda describes DiMare’s efforts saying, “Whether he is advocating for rigorous food safety standards, sound labor practices, or fair trade, Tony brings an intensity and a passion for our industry to the work that he does, and we are better because of it.”
“This is an unbelievable honor,” says DiMare, “I have so many wonderful memories of this industry. To be afforded the opportunity to serve the industry over the years has truly been a great experience and a real honor, and to be recognized by my peers and the industry is very humbling to me. I am very grateful to everyone I have worked with and to those who have helped me over the many years in this Industry.”
