Heat tolerance and high yields are two common denominators among varieties of broccoli and sweet corn from Seedway.

Emerald Crown has very good heat tolerance and works well in warmer weather. A compact plant, it keeps its beautiful color and small bead when other varieties fail due to heat stress. It has main-season maturity similar to Green Magic and produces a uniform, solid, and heavy head for crown cut. Heads resist purpling in cooler weather.

A few days later in maturity than Emerald Crown, Green Gold is very good when started in cooler weather going into warm weather and also good starting in heat and maturing in cool to cold weather.

Two new 80-day sH2 sweet corn varieties, Pickett, a bicolor, and Traveler, a white, have improved very easy “snap” with short shanks and the strong, clean plant needed for shipping. They yield with the best of the 80-day varieties. The eating quality is very good when needed for local markets. These varieties have intermediate resistance to southern corn leaf blight, common rust, and Stewart’s wilt.
