Alabama Insect Scouting Report Indicates Armyworm Numbers Have Increased

Beet armyworm numbers are up by 40% in the past weeks, and growers should be seeing caterpillars on crops, if they are in an area of high insect pressure, according to the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Fall armyworm activity has increased about 50% to 60% statewide at monitored locations. Corn earworm activity is still low across the state – but activity may increase dramatically with rising heat levels in July and August.
