The Great Lakes Ag-Tech Business Incubator (GLATBI), which serves farmers, entrepreneurs, and existing small businesses, has hired Holland, MI-based Burch Partners, to assist with marketing and branding. Burch Partners will work to increase and broaden statewide awareness of GLATBI, increase number of active clients and update the overall brand.
Based in Ottawa County, MI, the incubator leverages the region’s legacy strengths as one of the most productive agriculture regions in the U.S. to help develop and nurture ag-tech innovations, either into a business or commercialize them in partnership with other entities. The engagement is a result of a recent grant from USDA to enhance marketing and outreach efforts.
“AgTech has become a key sector of interest, making it among the fastest growing startup sectors, which means the incubator needs to upgrade its marketing and brand perception to stay competitive,” said Paul Sachs, executive director of GLATBI. “Burch Partners’ work with startups, incubators, and venture capital combines a distinct blend of creativity, brand management, local government, and agriculture acumen that are a perfect fit for our needs.”
USDA funding comes from the Rural Business Development Grant program. This is a competitive program designed to support the development or expansion of small and emerging private businesses in rural areas with fewer than 50 employees and less than $1 million in gross revenues.
GLATBI provides hands-on, customized business services to help clients address their specific challenges as they launch their ag-technology into the marketplace. GLATBI’s sponsor organizations also use their expertise to assist staff in addressing each client’s unique business hurdles.
