New Alion Herbicide Receives EPA Registration

New Alion herbicide from Bayer CropScience LP is now registered by EPA for use in tree nuts and vines, citrus, stone, and pome fruits.

Alion enables growers to more effectively rotate modes of action and preserve the utility of weed management technologies. It offers a new single mode of action for control of a wide range of annual grass and broadleaf weeds, including those weeds resistant to glyphosate herbicides, such as marestail and fleabane. Field trials show Alion, applied alone or in combination with other herbicides, can control ACCase-, ALS-, triazine- and glyphosate-resistant weed species. This chemistry led the Weed Science Society of America to approve a new herbicide mode of action group specifically for Alion herbicide — WSSA Group 29.

When combined with the nonselective activity of Rely 280 herbicide, producers can expect fast-acting burndown from Rely 280 and enhanced residual weed control from Alion.
