Governor Pushes For More Ohio-Grown Food
In a recent address, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland said that those living in Ohio spend about $43 billion dollars annually on food, but only 3% of that spending is for products from Ohio farms.
He also announced the Ohio Neighborhood Harvest program. This program, he said, is said to be the “largest effort of its kind ever undertaken to map access to healthy and locally grown food.” The plan, he said, is to design a statewide strategy to improve access to Ohio-grown products.
