Much work goes into breeding vegetables not only for appearance, taste, and pest resistance, but also certain growing environments. Vegetable variety performance is of utmost importance for growers. And some varieties will perform better under certain conditions. Growers need to consider all that goes into a vegetable variety before taking a leap. Lauren Giroux, Director of Product Selection and Trialing for Johnny’s Selected Seeds, says part of her job is to listen to growers and provide guidance in selecting varieties that will suit all their needs.
