Promoting Efficient Use Of Water

Smart Irrigation Month is a great way to distinguish yourself as a resource for your customers by helping them find ways to save water and money during one of the driest times of the year. Taking place in July, Smart Irrigation Month is an initiative designed to promote efficient irrigation practices within the industry and promote water-use efficiency to end users. Participating in the effort is a great way to start or build on your company’s image as an authority on irrigation to customers concerned about increasing savings from smart water use.

Participants in last year’s Smart Irrigation Month Smart Marketing contest branded themselves as ambassadors for the initiative and took the time and effort to show their customers how committed they were to helping them save money by offering water-efficient solutions. At the end of July, companies who participated in the effort submitted their campaign materials to the Smart Marketing Contest for the chance to win even more recognition for their efforts.

The Smart Irrigation Month web site (www.smartirrigationmonth.org) provides numerous free tools and promotional ideas to help spread the word to the public about the initiative. Materials are available for audiences such as growers, distributors, dealers, contractors, manufacturers, water purveyors, and end users.

Smart Irrigation Month Spotlight: Reinke Manufacturing
Though a global leader in irrigation products, Reinke Manufacturing is a hometown business at heart. Founded in 1954 in Deshler, NE, Reinke continues to promote excellent products and outstanding service in the agricultural irrigation manufacturing industry. The company’s dedication to the industry came through in its entry for the Smart Marketing Contest and earned them the award in the agriculture category.

Reinke President Chris Roth accepted the award during the Irrigation Show held in November in San Diego, CA. The campaign included print and social media efforts to promote both smart irrigation practices among growers and dealers as well as the incorporation of Smart Irrigation Month logos and messaging.

Reinke also reached out to dealer Walls Irrigation in Milford, DE. in an effort to highlight Smart Irrigation Month at their booth during the Delaware State Fair. At the Sunbelt Ag Expo’s Field Day, Southeast Territory Manager Mike Mills took advantage of the event to demonstrate sprinkler efficient products and discuss with growers the need for efficient and effective irrigation methods.

“We are delighted to receive this recognition from the Irrigation Association,” said Roth at the Smart Irrigation Month Briefing during the 2011 Irrigation Show and Innovations in Irrigation Education Conference. “Our team did a great job of working to help raise awareness and educate individuals on efficient irrigation practices. We look forward to continuing to show our support for this important initiative.”
