Insecticide Now Labeled For At-Plant Use
Brigadier (bifenthrin), from FMC Corp., has recently been approved for at-plant use in potatoes. The insecticide controls soil insects while also providing systemic control of foliar insects.
“Brigadier is now one of the only broad-spectrum insecticide products labeled for both at-plant and foliar use in potatoes,” said Bob Leifker, product manager, FMC Agricultural Products.
A new at-plant option, Brigadier offers effective protection against soil insects such as wireworms while also systemically controlling foliar insects including aphids, Colorado potato beetles, and leafhoppers. The product provides residual control for prolonged crop protection against sucking and chewing insects. According to FMC, Brigadier also makes an excellent resistance management partner and may be applied in tank mixtures.
The insecticide is approved for use in 43 states. Application methods include ground, aerial, or chemigation.
