Syngenta showcased an experimental yellow sweet corn, GSS30437, that has an improved GMO trait for worm control. It is the first variety of the company’s new Attribute II series of GM sweet corn. According to Jim McIntosh, retail business representative for Syngenta, “It picks up fall armyworm, western bean cutworm, in addition to corn earworm and European corn borer.” Seed for GSS30437 will be available in 2013. In 2014, seed for a bicolor variety also will be available. “Both varieties have terrific disease resistance,” adds McIntosh.

A new bean variety, Momentum is darker than Prevail and has proven itself in trials to have high yields. This bean has high resistance to bean common mosaic virus. Limited commercial seed will be available in 2013.
