Products To Help Your Trees Fight Off Citrus Greening

Vectored by the Asian citrus psyllids (ACP), HLB causes infected trees to grow green, misshapen, and bitter fruit. There is no cure for HLB and not all Asian citrus psyllids carry HLB. The disease cycle of citrus greening/HLB takes spans many years.

It has one of the broadest pyrethroid use labels and offers one of the lowest restricted entry interval periods available and lowest pre-harvest interval available for most crops. Movento is a two-way systemic foliar-applied insecticide that penetrates the leaf cuticle when sprayed on the leaf surface and it moves from the treated leaves both up to new leaves and down to the roots. This two-way systemic activity is key to its ability to control a wide range of above- and below-ground pests. Once Movento penetrates the leaf cuticle, it exhibits “two-way systemicity,” moving to all areas of the plant, including new shoot, leaf, and root tissues. Sivanto is the first insecticide in the butenolide chemical class (newly created IRAC subgroup 4D). It has a fast-acting, long-lasting residual. It offers fast feeding cessation effects on ACP, a flexible application window, including during bloom periods, with 1 day PHI for foliar applications, and selectivity to many beneficial insects and predatory mites.
FMC — FMC’s Gladiator is an insecticide/miticide that is formulated for dominance over psyllids (both adult and nymphs). It targets all major citrus pests and provides quick knockdown and long lasting residual. It is a combination of two chemistries with enhanced formulation.
Keyplex — Keyplex’s EcoTrol attacks the octopamine neuroreceptors in pests that regulates movement, heart rate, behavior and metabolism. The product prevents the transmission of octopamine signals through a blockage of their receptor binding sites. This blockage leads to characteristic signs of toxicity such as excitation, immobilization and/or knockdown, followed by death. The active ingredients of EcoTrol are natural oils. The fast-acting product combines an effective active ingredient and unique inert ingredients. This combination produces an effective and broad spectrum insecticide/miticide. It is effective against larvae and nymph. It has a low REI and PHI.
