New California Citrus Mutual Chairman Elected

At the annual re-organization session of the California Citrus Mutual (CCM) Board of Directors, Kevin Severns was unanimously elected to serve as the 2013-2014 board chairman.

Severns has been on the Executive Committee for several years, most recently serving as vice chairman. Previously, Severns has participated as a committee chair and he has been active in legislative affairs on behalf of the industry traveling to both Sacramento and Washington, D.C. on numerous occasions.

Severns is a second-generation citrus producer in Sanger, CA. He also serves as general manager for the Orange Cove–Sanger Citrus Association, is a member of the Sunkist Board of Directors, vice chairman of the Citrus Pest & Disease Management Committee, and former director for the Citrus Research Board.

Also elected to the Executive Committee were Andrew Brown, serving again as vice chair and former secretary/treasurer. Al Bates elected to the other vice chair position. Newly elected to the Executive Committee was Curt Holmes, who will serve as the 2013-2014 secretary/treasurer.

Upon accepting the gavel to commence the first meeting of the 2013-2014 Fiscal Year, Severns remarked that “he appreciated the faith and support from his fellow directors,” noting that “many challenges await our future and the future of CCM. I am up to the task of serving on behalf of California’s citrus growers.”
