Trio Of Bankruptcy Filings Puts Bushel Of Florida Citrus Acreage On Auction Block

Nearly 1,278 acres of Southwest Florida farmland will be offered at auction as result of separate but related Chapter 11 proceedings involving Nobles Farms Inc., Flatwood Citrus Groves Inc. and Southwest Florida Holdings Co.

The auction is slated for Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, and will be conducted by Murray Wise Associates LLC in cooperation with Crosby & Associates Inc.

According to the auction listing, the property (located in Hendry County) will be offered in 13 tracts, including groves in three locations in the northern part of the county, as well as a two-acre commercial lot in LaBelle. Properties include:

  • Flatwood Groves — Approximately 516 acres offered in seven tracts, located along both sides of Ponderosa Ranch Road in the Gerber Groves water control district.
  • Barfield Grove — A single tract located south of Sears Road with 496 contiguous acres, including 220 acres of mature citrus, 199 cleared acres and a 24-acre reservoir.
  • River Road Grove — Roughly 264 acres, with 157 planted tree acres, 58 cleared acres, a 12-acre reservoir and a four-acre home site. It is located along Fort Center Avenue, Fort Keis Avenue and Bonneville Road.
  • Commercial Lot — The two-acre commercial lot is at 1150 Commerce Drive, LaBelle, south of the central business district in the LaBelle Airport Commerce Park.
