Tips For Apogee Applications

With the current weather conditions in the Midwest and East, growers are urged to take precautions to prevent fire blight in their orchards. This includes applications of Apogee (BASF) at king bloom petal fall, says Phil Schwallier and Amy Irish-Brown in a Michigan State University (MSU) Extension bulletin.

First applications should be made when shoot growth is less than 3 inches. A second and third application follow in two-week intervals.

“An apple crop loss like this year (could be) will require a fourth and perhaps a fifth application of Apogee. Excessive rainfall and light crops will promote vegetative growth, therefore more applications and material will be needed,” they write.
