California Walnuts, American Heart Association Announce First Joint Funding Award

The California Walnut Commission (CWC) announced a new scientific research initiative with the American Heart Association (AHA) to fund early-career scientists interested in human clinical or epidemiological projects related to the health benefits of walnut consumption.

The CWC continues to actively fund health research to educate consumers about the health benefits of walnuts and their effect chronic disease. Funding this health research and educating around the outcomes is crucial in driving market demand and keeping walnuts top-of-mind for consumers when they grocery shop.

“The CWC is thrilled to provide special funding for this American Heart Association research initiative which aligns with our mission and strategic objective of educating consumers about the potential health benefits of walnuts, further driving market demand for the industry,” Michelle Connelly, Executive Director and CEO of the California Walnut Board and Commission, said.

These insights help shape our marketing initiatives around increasing California Walnut consumption.”
