Dave Baker was honored with the 2014 Almond Achievement Award for his lifetime of work on behalf of the California Almond industry at the Almond Conference Gala Dinner held Dec. 11 in Sacramento.

Baker joined the industry as field supervisor at Blue Diamond when the total almond crop was only 230 million pounds. Today he is director of membership, with more than 40 years of leadership under his belt. He has also served on nearly every committee and on the board for the Almond Board of California.

“Dave Baker’s deep understanding of the issues facing the industry serves all growers, regardless of their affiliation,” says Mark Jansen, president and CEO of Blue Diamond. “His extensive knowledge, garnered through ‘working in the trenches,’ has made Dave an excellent spokesman in many venues, communicating the nuances and nature of the almond industry to anyone who will listen.”

Baker’s name will be engraved on an almond-shaped leaf attached to a tree sculpture on the wall of the Nonpareil Conference Room at the Almond Board of California office.
