Automated Crop Stress Monitoring System

SmartCrop technology from Smart Field allows a grower to determine when his crop is under drought stress and needs to be irrigated. Developed by the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service, the system notifies the user through the Internet or cell phones.

Infrared sensors placed above the crop canopy can detect when the plants are under stress. A SmartCrop Base Station relays the information to a website where the grower can simply log on and see current crop conditions.
