Plastic-wrapped bundles containing a total of 766 pounds of marijuana were seized by CBP officers at Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge within a commercial shipment of broccoli.

Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CPB), Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility in Texas found more than one kind of a leafy product when 766 pounds of alleged marijuana were discovered within a shipment of fresh broccoli.

On March 22, CBP officers assigned to the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility encountered a tractor/trailer hauling a commercial shipment of fresh broccoli from Mexico. After referring the conveyance for secondary inspection and with the use of non-intrusive imaging technology along with a canine team, officers discovered a total of 661 packages of alleged marijuana comingled within the boxes of the produce.

CBP OFO seized the drugs, valued at approximately $153,000, along with the tractor/trailer and the case remains under investigation.
