‘Aphrodite’ is today’s standard for Eastern local and commericial shipping melons. A larger and better holding ability than the former standard, ‘Athena’. A consistent performer of large fruit with great flavor. Matures in 72 to 75 days.

Arangina (Seminis Vegetable Seeds)
‘Arangina’ is a delicious mid-early ESL Italian melon. Originally bred for the European market, but with great success when grown in the Northeast USA environment conditions. The plant has a medium, strong vigor with good and uniform fruit setting. The fruit has a blocky shape, with 4.5 to 6.5 pounds (2 to 3 kg) weight, hard course netting and deep green sutures. It presents a dark-orange flesh with great firmness and small cavity. Its eating quality is outstanding and suited for the Northeast market. Shipping ability and the crispy nice taste flesh, which make it attractive for export markets. Matures in 55 days.

Milan (Johnny's Selected Seeds)
An aromatic, sweet, juicy Tuscan-style cantaloupe with pronounced green sutures, and a small seed cavity. The fruits are oval and average 4 to 6 pounds. ‘Milan’ has strong field holding and improved cracking tolerance compared to similar varieties. It performs well (even in challenging growing conditions) where many similar types perform poorly or split. The vigorous vines produce a concentrated set, so we recommend succession plantings, to extend the melon season. Harvest at full-slip (when a gentle tug removes the fruit from the vine). This Eastern ESL melon can be stored longer postharvest than other Eastern types. ‘Thunderstruck F1’ still has the outstanding flavor and texture expected of this type. Triton (Johnny’s Selected Seeds)
A delicious Eastern cantaloupe that withstands the rigors of storage and handling. ‘Triton’ has excellent crack tolerance, disease resistance, and good shelf life. It is comparable to ‘Athena’ but has improved flavor, a smaller seed cavity, slightly smaller fruit (average weight 4 to 5.5 pounds), and earlier maturity (up to three days). Harvest at full slip or when background color is tan. Matures in 75 days.
