American Vegetable Grower (AVG) magazine sat down with Burt to talk about his experience winning the Gator and how he plans on using it.

American Vegetable Grower: How does it feel to be the winner of a John Deere Gator?

Johnny Burt: Pretty good! I was really surprised, I’ve never won anything like this before.

AVG: What were you doing when you heard the news?

JB: Well actually, I’ve got another John Deere Gator, and I was on that getting ready to stake my tomatoes in the garden when I was called. It will be well used.

AVG: Who was the first person you told about winning the Gator?

JB: My wife and daughter, and they were in the garden waiting for me, they were also very excited.

AVG: What are you planning on using the gator for?

JB: We’ll use it around the farm in the fall. We do agritourism, so we can get up to 250,000 people here. We always have to restock and move stuff around, so I’ll use it to move back and forth.

AVG: What do you anticipate to be the main benefits the gator will provide on the farm?

JB: Probably transportation. Going to and from the packingshed, seeing what we need, and checking on what we have in stock.
