Training Session To Use Online Water Management Tool

The University of California will present a hands-on training session on Tuesday, Sept. 24, to help growers learn how to use CropManage, a free online decision support tool for water and nutrient management of coastal crops. In addition to head and Romaine lettuce, CropManage now supports broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and strawberries.

Hosted by the University of California’s Surendra Dara, the workshop is designed to teach people in the agricultural industry a software program that improves the efficiency of farming operations and adds value to consulting services.The workshop will include hands-on, step-by-step training on how to navigate through the program, which aids in fertilizer and water management decisions and record keeping practices.

Wi-Fi is available, so bring a laptop or tablet computer to follow along in learning the steps. Two-and-a-half-hours of Certified Crop Adviser continuing education credits have been requested.

The training session will be held at Bonipak Conference Room, 1850 West Stowell Road in Santa Maria and will follow the annual Santa Maria Vegetable Meeting.
