Georgia Crowns Its New Watermelon Queen

The Georgia Watermelon Association announced that Whitney Leah Conner, 20, of Abbeville, GA, was crowned the 2010 Georgia Watermelon Queen during its annual meeting at Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club in Cordele, GA. 

Conner, the daughter of Ronnie and Debbie Conner, attends Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and is involved in numerous clubs and organizations on campus. She is a member of the national FFA organization, the Agricultural Engineering Technology Club, the Student Government Association and The Baptist Collegiate Ministries. 

As the 2010 Georgia Watermelon Queen, Conner will represent Georgia’s watermelon industry and Association in over 50 promotions in supermarkets, fairs and festivals during her reign as Georgia Watermelon Queen. At each appearance she will educate the consumers and media of the nutritional and economical value of watermelons.
 
Summer Nix, 23, of Chatsworth, GA was named 1st Runner-Up and Amanda Murray, 21, of Americus, GA was named 2nd Runner-Up.
