Richard KinneyKinney, 65, is survived by his wife Kim Kinney; son Jake Kinney; and sister Marion (John) Shorrock.

Peter Chaires, Kinney’s successor at Florida Citrus Packers, recalls him as someone loyal to the industry and dedicated to family. “With Richard’s passing, we lost a dear friend and colleague. Richard will forever be remembered for his tenacious and enthusiastic advocacy of fresh Florida citrus and its packer/shippers. Richard believed in fresh citrus and was an aggressive defender of the category. Though his retirement years were short, we are grateful that he was able to spend time exclusively focused on this true and lasting passion – his family. Our love and prayers go out to Kim and Jake.”

Services are slated for 6 pm Monday, Jan. 19 at the First Baptist Church of Dade City.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Richard’s name to the L.C.S. Baseball Renovation Program at Lakeland Christian School, 1111 Forest Park Street, Lakeland, FL 33803.
