The multitude of challenges and opportunities facing today’s produce growers were at the center of discussion during the recently held Fruit & Vegetable Grower CONNECT 2025 in Isle of Palms, SC. Among the influential growers in attendance was Brian King of Fagerberg Produce in Eaton, CO.

The editors from American Fruit GrowerWestern Fruit Grower, and American Vegetable Grower were able to capture candid conversations with several growers at the industry event about some of their most pressing wants and needs. For King, looking ahead in 2026, he says alternative crop inputs and smarter ag tech strategies will be key to successful growth. He highlights the role of AI and automation, which are helping on the farm and in the packinghouse to save labor and improve efficiency without replacing employees.

Managing more than 3,000 acres, King plans to continue adapting and using technology to meet the demands of the next season.
