Investments Making the Most Sense for Vegetable Growers Now

The vegetable industry isn’t pulling back from innovation. If anything, labor challenges, weather pressure, and tighter margins have increased interest in technologies that promise greater efficiency and control. What’s changing is the standard those investments must meet.

Growers continue to explore automation, precision tools, and other technologies, but affordability, labor savings, and operational efficiency rank ahead of nearly every other factor when evaluating a major purchase. According to results from the 2026 State of the Vegetable Industry survey, industry allies report seeing more growers delay capital investments, while suppliers remain optimistic about future demand.

Taken together, the results suggest that growers are not saying “no” to innovation. They are asking harder questions before saying “yes.”
