Lipman Lends Hand In Public Outreach

Immokalee, FL-based Lipman Family Cos. recently announced its partnership with the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples. The company has donated $300,000 to create the “Lipman Family Produce Market,” an interactive shopping experience for children.

The museum, which is slated for completion in early 2012, will feature the “Farm,” an exhibit that educates children about the science of a farm and where their food comes from. The “Market” will feature a shopping area, where children can pick toy fruits and vegetables directly from “plants” and then “purchase” them at a designated register. In addition, Lipman will arrange opportunities for Immokalee children to attend the museum once a year for free.

“Agriculture plays a big role in Southwest Florida’s economy, and this market will help educate children on the importance of fruits and vegetables – especially those that are grown locally,” said Jaime Weisinger, the director of community and government relations for Lipman. “We are excited because this museum will provide the hands-on experience that was only previously available to kids in big cities.”
