New Onion Varieties From Monsanto Company's Vegetable Seeds Division

Monsanto’a Vegetable Seeds Division offers several Seminis onion varieties in the 115 to 118-day window for growers in the Pacific Northwest. SV6672NW is a hardy Spanish hybrid onion with a refined neck and attractive dark semi-glossy green foliage. The 116-118 day onion produces uniform globe-round bulbs with excellent flesh color.

Another hybrid Spanish onion is SV6646NW. This high yielder produces a round bulb with medium thickness and an attractive bronze-colored scale with potential for retail and foodservice markets.

A 115-day variety, SV4058NU hybrid has an attractive white bulb with superior flesh quality. It has semi-glossy foliage and excellent bolt tolerance and storage potential.

Another onion hybrid with the potential to be a high-yielder is XP 07716000, which boasts a mild flavor. It is a 118-day onion that produces uniform white flesh, round bulbs with single centers.
