Aligote
Rupp Seed’s experimental station tomato trials included several round, Roma, and grape/cherry varieties from various companies. Aligote grape tomato was one variety that rose to the top. From French seed producer Vilmorin, Aligote is a new variety that grows on a vigorous plant, can be grown in protected cultures or open field, and has high Brix. “The flavor of this grape tomato is a big attribute,” says Barry Rupp, vegetable consultant at Rupp Seeds.

Garfield
Garfield from Abbott & Cobb is “one of the nicest orange peppers on the market,” says the company's Barry Rupp. He adds that it is the biggest orange pepper for open-field production, and is not recommended for high tunnels. This new variety has resistance to tobacco mosaic virus and is a main-season blocky bell.

Milena
Milena, from Enza Zaden, is an orange pepper variety that is better-suited for use in high tunnels. High tunnel peppers are typically smaller than those grown in open-field production, but they are earlier to market, Rupp says. “Growers producing colored peppers in high tunnels will be picking them before open-field producers,” he adds.
This three- or four-lobed blocky bell matures early and has resistance to potato virus Y and tobacco mosaic virus races 0-3. -
