Cantaloupe Growers Officially Plead Guilty; Sue Auditor

Melons_genericEric and Ryan Jensen of Colorado-based Jensen Farms pleaded guilty Tuesday to federal criminal charges involving the Listeria-tainted cantaloupe case. According to an article on www.kshb.com, the brothers’ attorney said there was no intentional wrongdoing.

The brothers pleaded guilty to six counts of introducing adulterated food into interstate commerce in connection with the 2011 Listeria outbreak. As a result of the outbreak, 33 people died.

In addition, last week the Jensens filed suit against Primus Group, which is based in California. According to an article in the Denver Post, Primus gave the Jensens a superior safety report in 2011.
