Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) law enforcement officers recently arrested a Lakeland man after discovering more than 50 pounds of marijuana concealed in his truck.

Gabriel Murillo was traveling west on I-10 in a truck visibly carrying watermelon and cantaloupe in the truck bed when he failed to stop at an Agriculture Interdiction Station. Officer James Fletcher conducted the traffic stop on Murillo’s vehicle and escorted him back to the interdiction station where the load could be inspected.

While inspecting the cargo area of the truck, officers discovered 50.5 pounds of marijuana concealed in clear bags among the fruit.

Murillo was charged with trafficking marijuana over 25 pounds, failure to stop for an inspection, and driving while license is suspended. He was booked in the Suwannee County Jail.
