Longtime South Florida Tomato Producer Passes At 83
October 9, 2015 Natthan Esformes, co-founder of South Florida produce powerhouse Pacific Tomato Growers, passed away earlier this week. He was 83.
Living in the Miami area most of his life, Esformes joined the family farming business after graduating from the University of Miami and serving two years in the military.
In addition to his agricultural accomplishments, he helped found the Diabetes Research Institute and worked to improve health care through the University of Miami Hospitals.
Services were held at Riverside-Gordon Memorial Chapel in Aventura.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family is requesting contributions in Nathan’s memory be made to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation in Hollywood, FL.
