The recent expansion of producing carrots in North Florida has come to fruition as a result of the increasingly difficult water situation out West, according to Bob Hochmuth, Director for UF/IFAS’ North Florida Research and Education Center.

“They had a choice of either looking at different areas on the West Coast, or just biting the bullet and coming East where they are closer to the market,” he says.

Now, new research could be the key to helping local famers turn this over-winter crop into cold hard cash.
