New Chairman At Apple Processors Association

Thomas M. DeNisco, the vice president, general manager, and CFO of Knouse Foods Cooperative, Inc. in Peach Glen, PA, has been elected Chairman of the Apple Processors Association (APA). DeNisco will serve a two-year term as industry leader of the 25-year old association charged with representing and improving the nation’s apple processing industry.

DeNisco is a 20-year financial executive with the apple processing industry, and a native of Buffalo, NY. He was named vice president and chief financial officer of Knouse Foods Cooperative, Inc. in November, 1992, elected the firm’s treasurer in November, 2000, and became general manager in 2005. He has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1974, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Executives Institute, and the Institute of Cooperative Financial Officers.

Knouse Foods Cooperative, Inc. is a grower-owned fruit processing cooperative, and one of the largest apple-processing companies in the world. With 100 producer-owners, it buys fruit from more than 600 growers, reaching more than 70,000 acres of orchards. Its products include apple sauce, apple butter, apple juice, and pie fillings, under such labels as Musselman’s, Lucky Leaf, Apple Time, Speas Farm, and Lincoln. It also packs quality private branded food products, and serves commercial users through a large food service division.

DeNisco has served on the Apple Processors Association board since 2010, and has been instrumental in decision-making effecting national legislative and regulatory issues, as well as product production, marketing, sales, and foreign trade.

The Apple Processors Association was founded in 1987, as a national association of companies that manufacture quality food products from whole apples. Members are apple grower/processor companies and cooperatives and suppliers to the industry. APA members produce a majority of the nation’s applesauce, fresh apple juice, and specialty apple products. APA has its headquarters in Washington, DC.
