Gale Gala (Malaga cltv.)
Gale Gala is the “one-pick” Gala strain. A whole tree sport of Royal Gala, this outstanding strain has all the winning characteristics of its parent but has deeper red stripes and a fuller red color. With thousands of trees in production, Gale Gala growers report one-pick harvests with packouts in the 95% to 100% Washington Extra Fancy grade for color. USPP#10,114.

Redfield Red Braeburn (Mahana cltv.)
A bright, cherry-red finish sets this Braeburn sport apart from other strains. You can literally see the difference on the tree! A full blush and good typey shape enhances the eye appeal of this apple. Redfield Red Braeburn comes from New Zealand, where they know a thing or two about the Braeburn variety. This selection, a Van Well Nursery exclusive introduction, has all the juicy, sweet-tart flavor of other Braeburn strains, but colors better. USPP#17,268.

Desiree
This new early-ripening peach comes from the Rutgers University breeding program. The tree is medium in vigor, resistant to bacterial spot, and bears medium-size fruit of good quality. The peaches are bright red with a heavy blush. Desiree is a semi-cling variety with few split pits. It’s an excellent choice for the very early market. USPP#19,382.

Scarlet Spur II Red Delicious (Flinn cltv.)
For almost two decades, Scarlet Spur was the most popular Red Delicious in the world. Now comes the next generation, Scarlet Spur II. Although Scarlet Spur II finishes coloring about three days earlier than its parent, it has all the winning characteristics of the original — dark mahogany color, crisp, white flesh, excellent fruit production, and outstanding type. It’s an exclusive, premier Van Well Nursery variety.

Adams Apple Red Delicious (Burchinal cltv.)
Adams Apple is just the ticket for fruit growers who produce apples in areas where getting good color is a problem. This new introduction is red from petal fall to picking. It produces large, type fruit with very white juicy flesh. It’s a sport of Van Well Nursery’s exclusive Oregon Spur II Red Delicious and possesses similar growth habits. USPP#14,757.

Red Cameo (Dudek cltv.)
A limb sport of Cameo, this Van Well Nursery offering has all the winning traits of its parent — crisp, juicy, sweet-tart flavor, and outstanding storage quality — but comes in a brilliant, red-striped package. The dark-red hue remains vibrant even when stored for a long period of time. The fruit is large and has excellent shape. USPP#19,766.

Aztec Fuji (DT 2 cltv.)
This new generation Red Fuji is considered the reddest blush Fuji sport on the market. This strain is fast becoming the standard by which all Red Fuji varieties will be judged. The fruit has all the sweet flavor and crisp crunch expected from Red Fuji. The tree exhibits growth habits and vigor similar to other Fuji strains.

Red Jonaprince (Red Jonagold)
Here’s the red Jonagold that delivers “one-pick” color. The deep red hue shows on all the apples, even shaded fruit, at the same time and in many cases the coloring comes earlier than on other strains of Jonagold. Red Jonaprince has the large size and excellent flavor of its parent, Jonagold Prince, plus better flavor and storage keeping qualities. USPP#11,112.

Auvil Early Fuji (Fuji 218 cltv.)
This new Fuji strain matures about six weeks ahead of standard Red Fuji sports. Hundreds of acres of Auvil Early Fuji have been planted, and it continues to produce a higher percentage of Washington Extra Fancy grade fruit. Fruit flavor, tree structure, and growth habit appear to be identical to other Red Fuji strains. USPP#10,141.
