DuPont Researcher Earns Top Honor
DuPont Distinguished Scientist George Lahm, Ph.D., has been recognized for his distinguished career achievements and contributions to the agricultural industry with the prestigious Agrow Lifetime Achievement Award. Agrow, a provider of news, analysis, and data to the global agriculture industry, conducts the Agrow Awards program annually to recognize excellence in the crop protection and production industry.
A member of the DuPont team since 1980, Lahm has led major research efforts in the company’s agricultural business, including his contribution to discovery of two DuPont Crop Protection insect control products, Rynaxypyr® and Cyazypyr™. His work on innovative insecticide compounds has helped increase global food production by increasing the quantity and marketable value of fruits, vegetables, and other crops through reducing losses due to insects for growers around the world.
“George and his team have developed remarkable innovations to advance agriculture and help create a sustainable global food supply,” said Rik Miller, president, DuPont Crop Protection. “For the past three decades, George has been at the forefront of insect control research, driving discovery and development of important new DuPont active ingredients for insect control, including indoxacarb, Rynaxypyr®, and Cyazypyr™. His contributions to our robust pipeline continue to help address grower needs, improving productivity and helping to create a more sustainable global food supply.”
“This is well deserved and great recognition for George Lahm,” adds Lars Swanson, portfolio manager for Rynaxyrpr. “People like George help deliver on the vision of DuPont as a the world’s most dynamic science company. It is both enjoyable and a privilege be able to bring Rynaxypyr products such as Altacor and Coragen insect control to the U.S. agricultural markets where clearly they are improving production agriculture and helping growers deliver high-yielding, high-quality crops.”
In addition to Lahm’s award, several DuPont technologies were finalists in the 2011 Agrow Awards program. Since the award program began in 2007, DuPont Crop Protection has received 13 Agrow Awards.
